Ofsted Information

Uplands Academy was inspected in January 2025 via a two-day ungraded inspection.

This inspection was designed to assess whether our school continues to provide a ‘Good’ standard of education. After a rigorous two-day inspection, Ofsted concluded that “Uplands Academy has taken effective action to maintain the standards identified at the previous inspection”.

The inspectors said:

  • "The school fosters a keen sense of community where manners, acceptance, respect and kindness are central to its ethos."

  • "Pupils enjoy school and feel safe. Their learning is supported by strong relationships and constructive guidance."

  • "The school has high expectations for behaviour and engagement. Pupils appreciate the way that their teachers know them well, and this helps to maintain a focused classroom atmosphere."

  • "The school offers a broad extra-curricular and enrichment programme."

  • "Pupils also benefit from the school’s ambition for their academic achievement."

  • "The school’s curriculum has undergone significant change in recent years. It is carefully designed and sequenced to ensure content is broad, balanced and ambitious."

  • "Teachers introduce new knowledge in an engaging way that prompts pupils’ curiosity."

  • "A strong focus on personal development actively supports pupils’ well-being. Pupils are well informed about courses and providers through high-quality careers education. Year 11 pupils, in particular, are confident about their next steps."


Our school was last inspected in 2017 while still operating as Uplands Community College and was rated as a ‘Good’ school by Ofsted.
