Visits and Trips
We pride ourselves on the extensive range of experiences and opportunities we offer to enrich the curriculum for our students through off-site activities and educational visits.
Every young person should experience the world beyond the classroom as an essential part of their learning and personal development, whatever their age, ability or circumstances.
Year 7 Herstmonceux trip
All Year 7 students have the opportunity to visit The Observatory Science Centre at Herstmonceux, a trip led by our dedicated science department. This hands-on experience immerses students in the wonders of science through engaging shows, interactive exhibits, and team challenges.
Set within the historic buildings of the former Royal Greenwich Observatory, the trip is designed to bring the Key Stage 3 curriculum to life, encouraging students to investigate, experiment, and develop a deeper understanding of science - all while having fun!
Theatre and Music trips
Our theatre and music trips offer students the chance to experience world-class performances, enhancing their understanding of drama, literature, and music. These enriching opportunities bring learning to life, supporting classroom studies with unforgettable live experiences.
Recent trips have included performances by the London Symphony Orchestra, London West-End shows including Guys & Dolls & Wicked, as well as plays that directly align with the GCSE curriculum. Productions, such as An Inspector Calls and Macbeth at Shakespeare's Globe allow students to engage with key texts in a memorable way, inspiring an appreciation for the performing arts.
Year 8 Welsh Camp
Our annual Welsh Camp offers an unforgettable experience for our Year 8 students, combining outdoor adventures, teamwork, and problem-solving. Set in the stunning landscape of the Brecon Beacons, this camp provide a perfect environment for learning beyond the classroom. The focus of the camp is on developing self-esteem, peer support, confidence and positive attitudes, and the trip is packed with activities such as raft building and kayaking.
Year 7 Hampton Court trip
Year 7 students have the exciting opportunity to step back in time and experience Tudor history at Hampton Court Palace. They will explore the magnificent apartments of Henry VIII, explore the stunning gardens and challenge themselves in the famous maze. Engaging workshops, led by expert guides, provide valuable insights into the changes in religion in England during Tudor Times, bringing history to life.
New York trip
Thirty-eight students had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the vibrant culture and rich history of New York during the Easter holiday 2024. From towering skyscrapers to world renowned museums, their trip was filled with unforgettable experiences and valuable learning opportunities.
One of the standout highlights of the trip was taking the ferry from Battery Park to see the Statue of Liberty, a symbol of freedom and democracy. They also got to see the breathtaking views from the Top of the Rock, where they could see the cityscape stretch out for miles.
Exploring the cultural diversity of the city was truly eye-opening for all the students and gave a glimpse into American urban life. From the streets of Harlem to the vibrant energy of Times Square, every corner of the city seemed to be full of excitement. They also had the chance to experience iconic American eateries, from a full American breakfast at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. to watching the singing waiters at Ellens Stardust Diner.
Students gained an insight into American history with a visit to the National September 11 Memorial & Museum and listened to a humbling talk by Dorothy Zellner, a veteran of the Civil Rights Movement.
The trip was a truly unforgettable experience that enriched the students understanding of history, culture, and the world around us. They returned with memories that will last a lifetime.
