Admissions

For students currently in Years 7 to 11 that require a place during the school year, an In-Year application can be made directly to Uplands Academy by completing this online admission enquiry form. Additionally, you may wish to apply to East Sussex County Council (ESCC) School's Admissions at the website here.

Once received, your application will be considered by the Headteacher, and their decision is reviewed by the academy’s admissions committee. You will receive a response in writing letting you know the outcome of the application within 15 school days from the date of submission.

All enquiries will be considered in line with the School Admissions Code 2021 and with reference to the academy’s oversubscription criteria.

If you are unsuccessful in gaining a place at the academy, we can of course add your child to our waiting list. To do this, please email admissions@uplands-academy.org. Alternatively, you also have the right to appeal the decision through the ESCC Schools Appeals Service. Details can be found here.

The deadline for secondary school applications for September 2025 has now passed.

East Sussex County Council notified the allocation of places for Year 7 starting in  September 2025 on Monday 3 March 2025. A second round of offers were made on Tuesday 1 April 2025.

Once a school place has been granted, parents are asked to complete an Admission Form via the school's online portal called Admissions+. 

Late applications may still be submitted to East Sussex County Council School Admissions via their website. However, late applications will only be considered at the discretion of the academy.

If you were offered a place at another school, ranked lower than Uplands Academy in your preferences, you will have been automatically placed on our waiting list. The waiting list will be reviewed regularly and further allocations may be considered throughout the summer.

Uplands Academy’s Published Admission Number (PAN) is 150 for the current Year 7 intake for September 2025. Please see the admission criteria in the Admissions Key Information section, which explains how applications are ranked.

The deadline for submitting appeals has now passed.

It is recommended you accept the place allocated to your child as this does not affect your appeal rights. Appeal hearings will take place through May until Wednesday 18 June 2025. For further information please see Appeals Information.

East Sussex County Council ask that applications are completed online and provides free internet access at any East Sussex library. For more information on applying online please contact East Sussex School Admissions.

The closing date for applications for Year 7 September 2026 to be returned is 31st October 2025. It is vital that you do not miss this deadline.

April to June 2026: ‘On time’ appeals heard
